Green Clean - The Eco-Friendly Algaecide
When stubborn algae issues keep showing up in your pond, waterfall, or stream bed, it's a good idea to treat the growth directly with a topical algaecide. Green Clean is the leading brand of oxidizing products that are intended to be broadcast directly on the algae itself. It kills most algae on contact yet has no residuality in the pond system which makes it great to use with beneficial bacteria treatments and other natural remedies.
Unlike copper based algae killers, Green Clean simply dissolves in the water within a few minutes leaving no chemical residue. During this dissolving process, it will damange any algae it comes in contact with, and is a terrific topical treatment for waterfall areas and other hard to reach places in pond.
When applied as directed for algae control it is safe for fish and desired plants, and will actually add oxygen to the water as it dissolves.
It should be noted however that we believe Green Clean is best used for spot control treatment, just as we do with all "quick kill" algaecides. It is much safer for fish, particularly in smaller ponds, if you use something like beneficial bacteria to help clear up a pond more gradually, however should you decide to use an algaecide to treat an entire pond, be sure to only treat segments of the pond and algae growth at a time. Do not attempt to knock it all out at once. Doing so often causes a rapid die of algae and a potential depeletion of oxygen in the water.
